At this exhibition, Josep Serdà, a artistic director of Art Frontier HK, debuted his porcelain works of sound sculptures, the "Gaudí Sound Art Installation Series." On the opening day, September 7, Serdà collaborated with musicians He Lei, Lin Jing, and Bai Jingjun for a live percussion performance.
This exhibition ingeniously focuses on the two distinct materials of paper and porcelain, initiating a dialogue that transcends texture and mood. The tranquility of porcelain and the vitality of paper complement each other, jointly creating an artistic atmosphere that is both contrasting and harmonious.
Paper, light and fragile, carries profound information, culture, and memories, making it an extremely expressive medium. It can be folded into various shapes, bears the weight of ink and brushstrokes recounting the past and present, allows colors to burst into a vibrant world, and can instantly turn into fragments, provoking deep reflection. The diversity and plasticity of paper demonstrate boundless creativity.
Porcelain, with its hardness and durability, embodies the depth of history, the charm of tradition, and the excellence of craftsmanship. Porcelain is the artistic fusion of fire and earth, showcasing its pure white and crystal-like beauty after undergoing complex processes and high-temperature firing. Each piece of porcelain is a testament to the artisan's spirit and the embodiment of the enduring and resilient spirit of artistic creation.
In the realm of artistic creativity, these artists skillfully utilize diverse media, abundant materials, and unique techniques, not only deeply exploring and presenting their unique heritages within their respective historical contexts but also delicately portraying the colorful landscapes of their existential states. Furthermore, they infuse their individual and unparalleled artistic philosophies into their works, ultimately weaving a magnificent tapestry of artistic landscapes that are both distinctively different and harmoniously coexistent.
