El Reflejo del Mito

"Myth is the public dream, and dream is the private myth."

Joseph Campbell, "The Power of Myth"

The annual exhibition of DeepTime Art Museum in 2023"The Mirror of Myth: El Reflejo del Mito, DeepTime Artists Group Exhibition (Shanghai Station)"was grandly launched as an important part of the China Shanghai International Art Festival, showcasing the charm of new material art rock powder painting and the allure of heart-image painting, presenting a contemporary art creation representing power and beauty.

The 22nd China Shanghai International Art Festival integrates various major festival exhibitions, including performances, forums, art education, cultural tourism, and other programs in different spiritual and cultural categories, spanning a period of 70 days.

As a bridge connecting traditional culture and diverse audiences, the art festival allows everyone to experience the excellent culture of China, fully appreciate the charm of art, enrich cultural life, and also feel the colorful cultures of the world.

During the art festival, the "Haipai Trend New Landmark in the Hundred-Year Alley on North Sichuan Road, HongkouHaipai Trend Art Season: 'Youth Power, Self-determined Art' Cross-Border Art Exhibition and Performance, TikTok Station Special Event" was also grandly staged, bringing everyone a fashionable international collision and a humanistic art feast.

The exhibition "The Mirror of Myth: El Reflejo del Mito" was produced by DeepTime Art Museum co-founders Zhou Jie and Chen Jiaming, jointly organized by the China Shanghai International Art Festival Center, Foshan DeepTime Cultural Technology Co., Ltd., and ZIYOU International Development Pte Ltd. (SINGAPORE), with co-organization from Yue Cultural, and received strong support from Foshan Tubond New Material Technology Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Runi Exhibition Service Co., Ltd.

Led by Chinese contemporary innovative material artist Fang Zi and the renowned Spanish artist Agusti Puig, seven outstanding artists in the field of abstract expressionism at home and abroad, with distinctive personal styles, collaborated to create over forty representative works over the past five years, forming three interconnected yet independent units, aiming to bring collectors and viewers an unprecedented exhibition experience.

New material art cannot be defined as a genre or style; it merely represents a symbol, a journey of mutual achievement between artists and materials.

If myth is the collective subconscious, like a light shining into everyone's dreams, then how do we distinguish and coexist reality and dreams? Does the dream reveal some universal truth?

Like holding hands with God, creating the reality.

DeepTime artists are the spokespersons of the divine, as God has bestowed the power of speech upon artists. The process of creation is like God holding your hand, repeating the work of the Creator; such works will live on.

Named after the mirror of myth, seeing each other.

Artworks are like mirrors, reflecting the deep and abundant subconscious world of people; we are both the mirror and the people in the mirror, reflecting each other endlessly.

Human life is fleeting; compared to the billions of years of the Earth, only immortal art can withstand time.

The value of artists, the value of artworks, is measured by the dimension of time, measured by the scale of life.

Artists can be very small, but they can be very powerful in front of their works.

Using the mirror as a carrier, DeepTime artists express, interpret, and inherit myths, symbols, totems, emotions, and moods through images.

Seeing each other, seeing the inner self, seeing the future.

DeepTime Art Museum invites you to enjoy the mirror of myth together, to explore the illusion and reality.
